ADA Compliant Web Design is committed to ensuring digital accessibility for people with disabilities. As a directory that helps businesses find ADA-compliant web design agencies, we hold ourselves to the highest accessibility standards.

Conformance Standard

This website is designed to conform to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. WCAG 2.2 is the most current version of the internationally recognized accessibility standard, and Level AA addresses the most common barriers for disabled users.

Accessibility Features

We have implemented the following accessibility features throughout this website:

  • Skip Navigation: A skip-to-content link is provided as the first focusable element on every page, allowing keyboard users to bypass repetitive navigation.
  • Semantic HTML: We use proper HTML5 semantic elements (header, nav, main, aside, footer) to ensure assistive technologies can accurately convey page structure.
  • Heading Hierarchy: Every page has a logical heading structure with a single h1 and sequential heading levels.
  • Keyboard Navigation: All interactive elements are fully operable with a keyboard. Focus indicators are visible on every focusable element (3px solid blue outline with 2px offset).
  • Color Contrast: All text meets or exceeds WCAG 2.2 AA contrast requirements: 4.5:1 for normal text and 3:1 for large text. Color is never the sole means of conveying information.
  • Form Accessibility: All form inputs have associated labels. Required fields are indicated both visually and programmatically. Error messages are clear and associated with their fields.
  • Image Alternatives: All meaningful images have descriptive alt text. Decorative images use empty alt attributes.
  • ARIA Attributes: We use ARIA landmarks, labels, and live regions where HTML semantics alone are insufficient.
  • Reduced Motion: Animations and transitions respect the prefers-reduced-motion media query.
  • Responsive Design: The site is fully functional from 320px to 2560px viewport width.
  • No Auto-Playing Media: No content auto-plays, flashes, or scrolls without user initiation.

Known Limitations

While we strive for full WCAG 2.2 AA compliance, we acknowledge the following known limitations:

  • Some third-party embedded content may not be fully accessible. We work with our partners to address these issues.
  • User-generated content (reviews) may not always meet accessibility guidelines. We moderate and format this content for accessibility where possible.

Testing

We test this website regularly using:

  • Automated tools: Lighthouse, axe-core, WAVE
  • Manual keyboard navigation testing
  • Screen reader testing (VoiceOver, NVDA)
  • Browser zoom testing up to 200%
